Re: [fast5] Headaches when fasting and waking up hungry

I do get hungry if I don't eat enough. The thing that seems to help the most is eggs. There is

a "stop eating" trigger in foods, in both humans and animals. Protein is the big one for
humans, but I think it further breaks down to "getting enough methionine". Not all
protein sources have much methionine compared to the other proteins ... egg white
and whey are the two best I think.

The second issue is fiber. Having foods that break down slowly, and provide butyrate to
the intestine.

The third is getting all the essential fatty acids. THAT is tricky. I do it by eating a fair
bit of fish, and taking seaberry oil, and eggs (egg yolk has the needed fatty acids,
esp. if they are good eggs). If you get the right fatty acids, your skin will get really
nice and soft, even if you spend a lot of time gardening and doing dishes!

Anyway, my meal these days consists of a big mess of greens or other vegies,
2 eggs, some chicken or fish, and whatever starchy stuff I'm still hungry for. Less
and less starch these days, because the greens make me rather full and it's
getting so I crave them more than anything else. Fresh collards fried up in
coconut oil with good spices is just rather amazing, esp. if you grow your
own collards (which can be done pretty much anywhere, and they do overwinter).

I've tried fast five on and off through the years, but am never able to do it for more than a few days, if that.

Either I develop a headache while I'm fasting, or I wake up in the middle of the night ravenous.

Any one else have these issues? Have ideas for solutions?

Luckily, I'm fine with eating more often. But I like the idea of eating during a smaller window.
