Since I have been successfully doing this way of eating for two years now I thought I should say something. It has worked very well for me. I have lost lots of weight (maybe forty lbs. or so?) and wear much smaller clothing AND feel great. What works for me is to start my day with my five hour window allowing the rest of the day be for digestion. I once had GERD, especially at night, but I have been med-free for at least a year, probably longer. If I am going out to a dinner later in the day that I am invited to, I will just cut down on what I eat in the five hour window. 99% of the time I am very strict about eating only in that five hour window. Some days it's only four hours. Just wanted to let you all know that there is one more person who finds this way of eating very useful (due to its simplicity, I think) for keeping unwanted weight off. I am a 47 year old female, btw.
