Re: [epilepsy] Zonegran

Good for you for sticking to your guns!! I'm on zonegran and haven't had a problem with it--i know people do. One side effect can be mood swings..in fact my friend's dad tried it and became a totally different person so he got off of it. I also take lexapro and trileptal.

I think with the zonegran you have to drink a bit more water in case of kidney stones (or just any liquid is fine). On the flip side, too much liquid will mess up my trileptal and the blood sodium levels!!

Hope this works for you!!

Subject: [epilepsy] Zonegran

I recently saw yet another neurologist. I found it to be
Despite my wanting to get off of the Vimpat because of it's lack of control and most-likely contributing or causing suicidal thoughts, he wanted to keep me on it and add Depakote. Depakote...a medicine I told him I didn't want because of the extreme weight gain and that I wouldn't do. He was speaking of how it was good for mood. Like it would counteract the bad thoughts from the Vimpat. Useless and stupid idea.
I hated his attempt at acting like a psychologist or something.

I stuck to my guns and I'm coming off of the V and trying Z, which I've never tried. What do others think of it? All I know is that it's not known how it works and that I'm apparently supposed to drink a lot because it can cause kidney problems.
