Hi Steve and all
I know I am late replying here but I have been on meds for
so long I wouldn't want to interfere with them they are
working so well and controling my szs so why tempt fait? If
it isn't broken don't fix it. Good luck.
Regards
Adrien

Hi Kelly,
Best of luck getting off your meds and drivining again! By
my choice, I didn't want to reduce my meds. After surgery,
my Drs. told me after one year seizure free I could then
begin reducing my meds. I was on both Keppra and Trilptal.
He said he would first lower my Kepprs every 3 months which
would mean a full year to get off them. Iwas on on 3000mg
each day. So, would reduce 750mg every 3 months. Then, would
reduce some of my Trilptal over time, but not get me totally
of it. Meaning I would stay on it a bit.
Now, back in time 3 1/2 years. I was 1 year after surgery,
my life changed in such positive ways that words could never
describe the way life changed for me. So, I was at, do I
want to continue on my meds like before surgery, or begin
reducing the meds which would increase the chance of a
seizure? Hey, my life changed so much I couldn't even
imagine taking me back to having seizures again.
So, I didn't reduce my meds, I'm 4 years 7 1/2 months
seizure free still on all my meds the same dosage as before
surgery. Gosh I always think of what life would be reducing
my meds. I've been on different seizure meds since 1975.
But, I'm a knew Steve, my life has changed driving again,
being seizure free. The question I ask myself is "do I
really want to take the chance of simply having 1 seizure"?
I quickly say "no way"! o, just wanted to give you my
thoughts about it.
I wish you the vest of luck!!!! Please, could you keep us up
to date on how the decreasing feels as you go, I mean not
having the meds in your system, how your mind feels ect...
Best of luck, I wish you the best (smile)! Take care, keep a
smile on your face!
Steve
