Re: [epilepsy] dealing with heat

Kelly,

Today we had 96 degrees with it feeling like 110 they say. I was
out for about 1 minute to put out the trash after working in the
dining room. I work in the dining room every Thurs and 2 or 3 Sundays.
the dining room is in my building-- so I don't have to go out.

Our 4 H fair is starting tomorrow for 10 days. Even if I would have
planned to go -- I wouldn't-- I just don't stand heat well. My AC works fine.
Even if we had that kind of heat before -- it would cool down at nite but this
is not cooling down.

What is a swamp cooler?

Millie

Millie,

You just get use to the pain it I guess. I have a theory that how much
pain you tolerate depends on what the worst pain you have ever been in
is. You know how when you go to the Dr. they ask you "on a scale of
1-10, 10 being the worst pain you've been in, what's your pain today?"
Well, most woman think childbirth is their 10, that's like a 5 to me.
Inter-cranial monitoring is my 10. So, though I have pain every day, my
tolerance to it is higher. I just cope with it, and keep within my
limits of activity.

As far as the heat goes, we live in the Northern Nevada desert, so it
get hot, but it is dry so there is no added heat index to the
temperature. When it is 100 degrees the heat index is 100 degrees.
Also, because the humidity is near zero or near it all the time here,
swamp coolers work great, and are much cheaper to keep running then
central air is. It is also still cool at night because we are far
enough north, and at 4000 feet, the other night it was down to the low
60's, so the house gets really cool in the morning as a starting point.
