Hi Sara,
I had a LTL 4 3/4 years ago and have been seizure free since. I've had epilepsy since just out of high school in 1975 my seizures where never under control. I didn't drive from 1988 - 2008. I've been at the same job over 24 years. And in so many ways I feel so much like what Kelly said in her post. With my memory worth (choose the word), so many things I used to do I don't do much of. I don't try to learn new things, don't watch tv much, anything to do with remembering only makes me feel like less. I sometimes ask myself if surgery was worth it! Would life have been better having seizures and not driving but having my fricken memory back? I always come down to surgery was well worth it but wish I had my life back. I'm not the Steve I used to be!!! I don't want to be post surgery me, feel lost in hell not knowing where or how to be this Steve! I want me back! Gosh do I hate dealing with how much others can't understand what I feel like not able to remember the way I used to. My memory was crap before surgery, now, well, having a very difficult time. Also, I've had a learning disability all my life, that makes it that much worse now!

I think that sometimes with the stages of any loss (in this case the life you would have had without epilepsy) can seem to be over for months or years, then something happens and you return to one of the stages for a while. I guess whether or not this is a possibility depends on how long you have been feeling this way. You know yourself best and rant as much as you need to. We're here.
