Re: [epilepsy] Mother of two

(((Rebecca))).

I feel for you! I was there once myself. My son is also autistic, and I remember after one sz I had, coming to and thinking not "Oh, God...another seizure," but "Where the hell is Drew?? He'd better still be in the house!!" Thank God, he was, and neither of the kids saw anything. I have a good long aura (about 4 min) and ran to my room so they wouldn't see it.

Do you have an aura? Is it at least a minute long? If so, use it. Take that time to get somewhere safe, and educate your older child on what to do.

I hope this helps, for starters. Please E me anytime with any other questions I might be able to answer for you. :)

The other day I had a grand mal seizure with my 2 boys at the house. I have no idea how much time was lost. My 5 year old says I threw up but I do not remember. I am so worried that my 2yr old and 5 yr old will hurt themselves or walk out the front door and I will never know. Does anyone have advice on being a mother with epilepsy?

Rebecca
