The fact that a supposed "dietician" recommended a donut instead of ice water or something is pathetic. That is plain old sad. It's ridiculous to the point of insanity.
Oh well, if you take diet advice from the newspaper you get what you get.
They do have interesting tidbits here and there though. One that I found on the checkstand: it turns out that high-salt diets, when fed to rats ... the salt interferes with the ability of fat to move out of fat cells. Which goes totally against the usual thought, which is that salt is a non-caloric substance and therefore shouldn't affect weight one way or another (except insofar as water retention).
