We'll see if that will go thru. Millie

Kelly,
I've had 2 sleep studies and I never went off my meds.
With both I ended up with a C-PAP machine to use when
I sleep. I don't use either of them anymore because I sleep
better without it.
We have a Sleep Study building where you go to sleep all
nite. You are connected to wires at different parts of your
body. If you need to go to the bath room during the night--
you just wave your arms and they will come in and disconnect
from the machine. And connect you again when you come
back to bed. They are watching you all nite.
The second nite they have you connected to a C-PAP machine
to figure out how to set the C-PAP machine.
The last time the technician had been an EEG tech and she told
me the next morning that she could see the spikes that show on
an EEG machine but I didn't have a sz and I didn't go off my meds.
In my case -- EP had nothing to do with the sleep study. An EEG
and a sleep study are complety different and have nothing to do with
each other. For an EEG the 22 wires are attached only to your
head. For the sleep study the wires were attached all over my
body.
And I never went off my meds. I take 3 - Dilantin 100 mg Mon,
Wed and Fri -- and 4 the other days plus 4 - 30 mg phenabarb
a day. I have been on these for over 20 years. My last sz was
over 4 years ago.

It sounds like you need an epileptologist. Theya re neurologists who
specialize int he treatment of epilepsy. You can find one in your area
by going to http://www.naec-epilepsy.org/ and choosing the locator
tool. Sometimes you need a referral.
