I get it from Miracle Noodles, NOW foods, or Konjac foods (the latter two are on Amazon).
I guess I order MOST of my stuff off the Internet. I live in kind of a backwater and there isn't all that much I can find locally, though I try to support my local businesses first. One thing I've found about ordering online, esp. at Amazon, is that the vendors are very aware of their "reputation" and work really hard to get their 5 stars and avoid bad ratings. I've had some packaged stuff arrive that wasn't well packaged, but mostly everything is in very well sealed containers, just like at the grocery store, and the vendors are very often brick-and-mortar stores that sell in person too.
Now, if you are ordering foods from other countries, or individuals, it can be a little different! Esp. items like seeds from someone's garden, it's hit or miss sometimes. Like buying at a garage sale. Fun, but less predictable! One of my online friends sent me a konjac root, and I ordered another one online, and both are growing nicely. I don't plan to eat them though. Processing konjac is rather difficult I hear.
Anyway, I have not found glucomannan powder anywhere at stores near me, so probably online is the way to go. I have not taken a 3 tsp. a day, ever! It might make a good experiment though. But as with anything, start slow! I mix the konjac powder with psyllium, then sprinkle it over some water to soften (like gelatine), then mix it in and drink it down quickly, before it gels. I have not found any downside to it except the cost, though some people say it gives them a bit of gas. The gas issue likely gets better as the bacterial populations settle down. Konjac changes the mix of bacteria in the gut, which is for most of us who grew up on low-fiber quick-digesting carbs, is a very good thing.

Heather, where do you get your konjac powder? I'm always fearful of ordering anything I eat on the internet. I've researched online and am seeing most recommend a whole teaspoon 3 times a day! I'm sure I couldn't get that much down...
