Re: [fast5] New Member here...

I think most people stop being hungry after awhile, and eventually eating outside the window seems an imposition. Like when one has to eat out lunch for some occasion. Food choices do matter though. My experience, which mirrors what others have said, is that eating more protein the day before makes it easier to fast the next day. Semi-digestible fiber makes a difference too ... it digests very slowly and produces butyrate, which makes your body happy, and also fights inflammation. The best meals for me are ones that rotate around a big pile of green stuff ... usually a stir-fry, or Tom Yum soup, which I love, with yam noodles and greens. And kimchi on the side. For protein, eggs and fish work the best. Whey is supposed to have a similar effect, but dairy gives me headaches, so I avoid it personally.

I avoid high-iron foods, or make sure to pair them with something like tea that blocks the iron. Iron has a similar effect on people that sugar does, oddly enough. It messes with insulin levels, which can make a person hungrier later.

There is a fair bit of iron in greens, but it's not assimilated well.

HI all!  I am just picking up intermittent fasting now after being resistant to it over the past 6 months.  I have been eating Paleo for the past year, and although I had lost about 20-25 lbs before that, I hit a stall and was hoping Paleo would alleviate the stall- no such luck.  I am hopeful that IFing will get me out of this stall.

I am 5'2", 144lbs, and 34 yrs old female- I am curious to hear from other females- what their experience has been like.  I eat very few carbs- no grains, only carbs from veggies and some fruits.  I intend to monitor my caloric intake- aiming to keep it around 1500.  I exercise 2-3xs a week- hot yoga, walking, and some weight training.  I might do a mix of a 24hr fast once in a while and eating in as small of a window (as low as 5 hours) that is comfortable.

I immediate questions are- does the fasting period get easier?  I have been feeling ok, but I find I am a bit preoccupied w/when my fast is over- looking at the clock.  THis is probably b/c it is still new to me- but I'm hoping that I don't feel so hungry eventually.

I have also read that IFing can go one way or the other for women.  Have you guys (women specifically) been successful w/IFing?

Thanks in advance!
