Linda,
I can empathize with the noise problems, but I think it may have more to do with
the seizures themselves. I had seizures from 1993 to 2002 without meds. We
didn't know what they were because I didn't black out.
The entire time I have not been able to be near booming car radios, backfiring
cars, guns, too many people in a room, talk with a radio going at the same time,
you name it.
I force myself to attend whatever I can tolerate, because if I don't I will get
depressed. I like being around people.
If I enter a new group of people I announce my difficulties before whatever is
going on, like a meeting, etc. If nobody likes it, I leave politely. I
figure I won't know what will happen unless I try it.
Kathy

Subject: [epilepsy] Word recall and spelling problems
HI, I haven't posted for a long time but I have been in the group for a good
while. I take
Keppra XR 1500 mg daily and Zonegran 3- 100mg. caps. daily for a seizure
disorder due to stress that started about 15 yrs. ago. I have memory loss and
also problems with word recall and stammering a bit when I can't figure what I
want to say which is hard but I have never had trouble much with spelling
words. It might help if someone has trouble with this is to play word games on
the computer like Scrabble. I have an old game on an old computer with just
games on it and not hooked up to the internet and the game of scrabble I play is
playing against the computer which is fun to me and it keeps me up on my
spelling too. I can't play games under time pressure. It makes me
nervous. Another thing is to use word search books to help your spelling.
Anything to help your mind is best to keep your train of thought going. Even
learning to use the computer is sometimes hard for me to remember what to do
next.
Another thing I wanted to know if any of you have problems with noise and
confusion like being inside with alot of people talking that you can't tolerate
being there. Being in
a gym and buzzers going off and people screaming is absolutely terrible. Social
situations are absolutely bad so I avoid them. Music played loud I can't take
either. When I go to exercise I put in ear plugs if I have to, to avoid the loud
music. Do you think this would
be side effect of the meds? Linda lindahammond91@yahoo.com
