Re: [epilepsy] Re: considering going off trileptal

I have to agree with Steve...usually Dr's don't want to decrease your dosage until you're seizure free (mine wants 2 years). BUT...maybe they can lower the dose, since you're also on Lyrica. I'm on Trileptal and haven't noticed any problems with it, but I also take Zonegran with it.

With this note of wisdom, I should go to bed, since I did have some seizures today!!

Steve,

Somehow I knew you would respond. I am considering it mostly to try it
out. I want to see what would happen. I was nervous when she
recommended I go off the topamax completely, but nothing really changed
and the reduction in side effects was such a huge relief. I am kinda
wondering what would happen if I tried reducing my trileptal. If it is
even possible that it would have no effect, I figure it might be worth
trying?? Scary, but in the long run wouldn't it be worth it to know?

My reason for that is I'm not cured of epilepsy, and, seizure can come back. So, I want to stay on my meds. as back up in case a seizure try's to develop. Call me crazy but I know enough people who's seizures have come back years after surgery, one friend 10 years after surgery. So, no way will I decrease my meds because of how much my life has changed in positive ways since surgery.
