Kelly,
I hope you don't want to, your complex partials are too frequent, just see what
your epileptologist says.Steves idea is right. My frequency of complex partials
has been reduced allot so that my last complex-partial was 6/13/10.But;on 1/4/11
I had a simple partial and thought it was an aura which would progress onward,it
didn't.I might have some that I'm not aware of,but this seems allot better then
weekly.I'll wait longer before I attempt to drive,if I drove maybe I'd crash
into a tree and wonder what caused this.Wait till you doctor tells you to drive
or reduce any medicine.Currently I take two 500mg Keppra XR&three 100mg
Vimpat;both sets are taken twice daily.I'm so used to being on drugs for 37
years,I was taking 1500mgs of XR one time a day while taking the same dose of
Vimpat twice a day. With XR at least there's more per day but smaller amounts
1000mgs of XR twice a day,before I took 1500mg once a day.It seems to work OK
even though I'm taking it more frequently than waiting for it to reach its
half-life.

Subject: [epilepsy] considering going off trileptal
I have and appointment with my epileptologist in June, and I want to
bring this up to her. I would like input from those of you who are post
surgery and have gone of off, or reduced, your meds.
A little background, I am just over 3 years post surgery, and still
having an average of 1 mild complex partial a week. Sometimes I have 2
in a few days, sometimes I go 10 days without one. Before surgery I was
having 3-6 a day on 3 meds. As of last June I was on 3 meds still, and
we dropped topomax from that list. I am now on Trileptal and lyrica.
The Lyrica also helps with ongoing pain issues. When I went off the
topomax my seizure activity changed very little, but the drop in side
effects was amazing!!!
I now wonder if it would not be worth trying to go off of, or at least
reducing, the trileptal. I am on 450mg twice daily. I also take 50mg
lyrica twice daily. I want to stay on Lyrica because it was prescribed
only in part for seizure activity, but mainly for pain issues. Dropping
the trileptal makes me nervous in some ways though. On occasion I will
miss a dose of my meds, which I take together twice a day. I usually
realize I have missed a dose because I will have strange symptoms. For
example the feeling my environment is moving when it is me moving, like
my head shaking. My hands will shake more as well. Do you think this
is seizure related, or withdrawal related from missing a dose? Would
like your input to consider.
