If you haven't gotten your tickets yet-you need to! Ticket prices have been priced so low-it's so wonderful to be able to afford to go out and see this kind of show for $25! In this economy-I'm so thrilled that we can do this for the people. There is no excuse! This Thursday, Friday and Saturday we are going to funk up Inglewood again! (April 28,29,30th) Rumor has it that on Friday night Cassandra Wilson will be gracing the stage with her awesome voice and then on Saturday night Mint Condition is gonna take the stage. The funk is gonna happen every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night at the Forum for the next (THUR/FRI/SAT) 17 nights (out of the 21 nights, we've already done 4). Next week on Friday the 6th of May- CHAKA KAHN is gonna be performing! Then on Saturday May 7th Esperanza Spaulding! I'm so excited!!!! Music is really gonna be touching a lot of people's lives over the next couple of weeks. To be a part of such a talented group of people is simply awesome.
Meanwhile, as far as what Prince was talking about on George Lopez last week... we need to support the artist and overturn the Compulsory Licence Act. We don't mind people covering our songs in live shows but we do have a problem with intellectual property theft. When record companies or artists re-record music and create an income stream from it, then it is unfair.Ie. Glee. And in no other art form does this take place, nor would it be acceptable. And because the industry does not care about this, music is taken from other artists. The by product of this is that the industry is filled with less talented artists and a new standard that is formulary or marketing driven. And the ones that should fill the industry don't get seen or heard because they don't fit the cookie cutter mould... For Example Lalah Hathaway!
I for one have never been interested in being a cookie cutter artist. Please support live music-and the rights of the artist and songwriter. Music is a universal language...but don't let the universe use the Music without it being respectful of where it originally came from.

Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
Purple Music does the same to my brain.
