lol Your right No matter what the buzz gets out, even those fans that might not expect too much from the albums still get excited when his music is starting to come out. As a whole we might seem critical at times, but I think it's because we really do believe in Prince. And if not excited for the music they sure get excited for the pictures and/the live performances. Some people don't like a song until they hear it live and then go back with a different appreciation and that's good too Many I can still remember when I bought my 1st Prince album: Around the World in a Day all the previous ones were bought for me. But I still remember the magic of going to Record Theater and picking up that piece of artwork, and finally opening it when I got home, listening to the beginning 2 the end and reading the lyrics and credits, studying the inside and out. I was in heaven

Right, I can agree with that too Ty. I feel like going home and watchin' the performance and speech again so I can get a better understanding of perhaps what I thought he said. P knows he's a Leader in the music business and what he does sets the tone for the artist to follow. It's not like he exposed himself on stage or in public besides the but-less pants ... For all I know, Alicia crawling on the piano being sexy promted that. So to me he's talking about his what he did as an artist. Not what he did in his personal life. Yes we've all made mistakes, but me not drinking enough water is a mistake totally different from me not taking a risk with my art work or censoring it.
I made a mistake last week and tried to cut my own hair, it turned out good except for a little bald spot in the front. That's a different kind of mistake from allowing someone in authority on the job to get away with singling me out and making me change my hours bypassing Human Resourses. I think he was mostly talking about certain onstage behaviour, because of what was said in the same sentence. The fact that when he said something about his wilder days people applauded. They loved it. Overall though I loved his speech, Prince is my man, I was totally proud for him, embaressed that he had to hear Purple Rain crapped on by Trey Songz

I don't think he meant for us to put too much weight into this "mistakes" comment. Of course, from his own personal viewpoint, he HAS made mistakes. But which one of us has not? I like to think that what he was saying is that now that he has matured and taken his journey that brought him to where he is today, he can look back and see that maybe some things could have been handled differently. ...I think he was just offering some "think about what actions you take" advice to anyone willing to listen....I don't think he was being way too critical of himself..... our own individual journeys make us who we are today, but woudn't you also agree that if you might have thought a little harder about a particular event in your life, you might have done it differently? I think he was just coming from that direction... .a direction of hope and positivity.. ..and yes, he gave a grand compliment to our musicians of the future saying that he felt music was in good hands....and I think he sincerely meant that....I also think that he's just wanting some of the younger musicians to really think about their choices and their directions.. ..I wasn't offended or taken back by his comment....I can't say I agree that he's made mistakes, but nobody knows what's inside that amazing head of his and what thoughts are prompting him to say that...so obviously it was something HE felt compelled to share....I liked the speech....it showed his grace, his intelligence, his compassion, his positivity, his heart, his humanity.... .I just stand back with amazement when it comes to this man!! He never ceases to amaze or impress!!!

I guess it depends on which mistakes he was talking about...that crap with Warner Bros wasn't cool...but it was the norm back in the day. Now looking back..he set the stage for ownership and rights for musicians. As always, he spearheaded/ blazed the way for others to follow. He sounded like a proud big brother when he said that music is in good hands. I don't recall ever seeing him that emotional before. Just love him!!
