Re: [epilepsy] Re: First visit from member of group

Steve,That was a very special time to meet w/ another person with epilepsy.I've never met anybody else since being diagnosed in '74,even though I'll seen allot of other patients at doctors offices,I never knew of their medical problem was, except for the one who had a seizure.I'm glad that you began to drive again, this must be a shocking experience.Hopefully I may become able to drive again, hope to handle the change and maybe its very important I'll take a lot of time before I feel that I fit in with the other other drivers.Tim Baldwin live in Baltimore & w @ FDA in DC

I just wanted to thank both Millie and Tim for visiting with me. I really enjoyed sitting and talking for the couple hours I could with each of them. I was taking my first rode trip since I began driving again 2 years ago. I hadn't been driving for 20 years before that because my seizures couldn't get under control. My Left temporal lobotomy so far has stopped my seizures. Time will tell how long that will continue.

I drove myself from Chicago to the suburbs of Washington D.C. for a big family get together for a first cousins sons Bar Mitzvah. A time family always gets together from all around. On both the way and way home I spent 2 days each time doing day hikes on the Appalachian Trail in Maryland. An amazing hiking trail I hiked from 4 - 6 1/2 hours each day. This hiking trail goes from Georgia to Maine. My sisters family as well as my parents and other relatives traveled by air. This was my chance to hit the road which I've always enjoyed doing (big smile)! An amazing feeling doing a road trip again after not being able to since 1988! Simply driving the roads was more than just special!!!

Thanks again Tim and Millie for visiting with me.

I've spoken with so many different people who have traveled to different states to visit others from internet support groups for epilepsy! I even have a friend from another epilepsy internet group who made a close friend in the UK and they each traveled across the pond in different years to visit each other. What a great way to make a vacation! Take care, keep a smile on your face!
