Re: [epilepsy] eliminating no possibility

Kelly,
That's good to know that VNS is usefull to those w/o auras. But,I still wounder if the possibility of seizures being reduced 50% isn't highist for those who can use it fully. And it likely that the best seizure reductions to be for those that use the magnet. And,to be reduced if the user doesn't take full advantage of all available/usefull parts.

That's what I asked her and she said that is a common misconception.
Most of its usefulness actually comes from the electirical signal that
it sends to the vagus nerve every so many minutes based on how it is set
for you. The magnet is useful if you do have auras, or if it is swiped
during a seizure, but that is not the VNS's primary usefulness in
stopping seizures.

I beleive that a person may be having a seizure and a person nearby could use the magnet to prevent the seizure from progressing, but what if you're alone. Do you think that w/o the use of the magnet the reduction of seizures wouldn't likely be 50%, maybe 0-25%?
