Re: [epilepsy] This group changed my life for the better!!!

You are right Steve, this is a great group, and having different opinions and views is something positive. Agreeing or disagreeing with others should not be a reason to withdraw and leave something you like or something you feel useful. We always have the choice to read or simply to ignore.

Hey Everybody,

I'm not over exaggerating when I say the following! This support group changed my life for the better! The support I was given and was able to others helped me to not only understand myself, but helped me to accept myself and feel good to be the Steve I am.

Yes, the tempers flare when different things come up, and some things come up that always seem to keep a subject going way to long! But the things settle down in time then get back to usual.

I've made friends through this group, friends who could understand me. I've met different people in this group face to face also. I've met people out of state over the years who I met in this group. And actually will be meeting two more friends in this group out of state in the next couple weeks. Many people from this group I've emailed with, spoken with on IM and have exchanged phone numbers with. We all need friends with people who can relate to each other. Just remember, if a post is made by a person you don't want to listen to, simply don't read a post made by them. Isn't that simple enough?

When we come down to whats important, its that we with epilepsy all can use the support of others. And here we are now, here with each other. Give it time, things will be back to usual. If there is a person who's posts you enjoy reading, why not email them? And then keep in touch with them regularly? I do that all the time!

If I thought its going to help a person to not have friends with epilepsy, would I be typing this? My seizures went 31 years not being able to get under control. I joined this group and felt like I had friends here who understand me. This group changed my life beyond words I could ever desrcibe. Stick around, give it time, not much more I can say about this group! Hey we are all human, humans make mistakes. I had support from this group to go forward with surgery which so far has stopped my seizures. Its this group that gave me support, not Drs!!! Stay with us here, trust me on this one! Take care, keep a smile on your face!

Steve
