[epilepsy] Generic meds

Hi Scott,

I am not opposed to taking generic drugs, but I will not switch from Keppra to the generic. The problem is that the genetics are not exactly the same as the name brand and by switching it can cause differences in how the body reacts.

I was started on the name brand Keppra (no generic was available at that time). Keppra controls my absence seizures and I don't know how my body would react to a change. I was started on generic Dilantin in the hospital for grand mal seizures and after getting the correct dose to maintain a therapeutic level, my grand mal seizures have been controlled. I hope this helps. Take care.

Terry
