Hi Cristin,
I have taken numerous different drugs and one of them for
quite awhile was the Tegretol. The drug I started on, ages ago,
was the dilantin. My seizures started when I was 17 years old
and had a dilly of auto accident. I went to many different doctors
over the years. I recall my first doctor there was a Dr. O'Brien.
Later I was directed to a Dr. Stephen Karceski. For about 35 years
I had seizures both granmal and petimal during the day. I never
could get driving license all those years. After left temporal surgery, all day seizures stopped completely. However nocturnal
ones began and they still occur at least two nights a month. For
that reason, I am still on drugs, presently Lamictal. Seizures that
happen when I am asleep are granmal and sometimes when they repeat
the same night, my husband gives me another pill which makes it stop.
The following day is the super headache and also I sleep a lot.
We lived in New York at the time post surgery. I went to a lawyer about getting driving license since I have to be asleep to get a
seizure post surgery. I did get my license. About 6 years after
that, we moved to North Carolina and here I got a lawyer to get
license here too.
Good luck, Christin. Please let us know how it goes.

She makes this gasping choking sound that lasts for about 30 seconds to one minute and then the seizure kicks in and she does not remember anything else. This alwasys happens while she is sleeping. Last night shortly after falling asleep she all of the sudden lifted up her head and turned around. I asked her if she was ok. After asking her a few times she said yes. And then told me a few minutes later that she felt the same kind of feeling before she had the other seizures, but she controlled it. She was to scared to go back to sleep. This has happened once in the past as well. Does anyone know what might be going on? Thankyou. Cristin Filipuzzi
