started drinking "natural" water.
Um ... except it is full of arsenic. And iron. Both of which aren't
great for humans (or goats/sheep/cows). Now we have a very
pricey water filtration system. Go figure. The people who lived
here before got Parkinson's, which is associated with
well water.
My conclusion: well water is not "natural". Humans didn't drink
it until they got enough technology to dig wells. Before that
they drank water from streams or lakes, which usually sets
on clay beds (and clay changes the water). That water also
often had parasites, which is another issue.
As for drinking "lots of water" ... I tend to need a lot of the
stuff myself. I don't know why. I think it's something everyone
needs to evaluate personally. I have goats and chickens. The goats
will very rarely drink water, unless they only have dried grass
to eat (hay). Chickens, however, need lots of it. Why? There
is likely a reason, but most farmers don't worry about it: you just
feed the animals what they need by paying attention to what they
want and what they do well on.
However, I do a lot better if the water I drink has a little lemon
juice in it. I think this is the "Gatorade" effect ... water needs
some trace elements in it to be used well. Also I do better
with more B vitamins, esp. B12. Water tends to flush out
B vitamins, so that may be part of it. Or it may be I don't
absorb them well to begin with.
But when I feel really GOOD, the constant need for water goes
away. So I think the need for water is something of a symptom
too. I just haven't figured out what it is a symptom OF. (Note:
it's not my blood glucose: I check that too).

Now I live on a hobby farm with well water. I haul my water in from the city because, like I said, I'm a city boy and well water tastes like… ah… (are there only adults reading this?). Well water, take it or leave it, has lots of stuff in it. My neighbors have all drank it for years and love it. I don't. I buy jugs of some kind of reverse osmosis processed crap from the super market to drink and use city water for other potable purposes.

To help me keep my intake of water up, I use a mixture of 5% fruit juice (I buy it by the case, different flavor concoctions) and 95% water. The juice MUST be natural with NO SUGAR ADDED. The "no sugar added" part is ultra important. With this mixture, I can slurp a lot of water during the day.

I would have to say my current daily goal is to make sure at least 1 gallon of water goes through the pipes in a 24 hour period (and possibly a beer or two if there is any in the fridge out on the deck beside the fire pit outside).
