RE: [fast5] Re: fluoride

The same thing is happening here – our council have decided that they will be putting it in our water whether we want it or not. It is draconian at best.

I too have read lots on the pros and cons and will not be using the town water – we installed more tanks and will use filters etc for better water.

The thing is only two weeks ago the council had to admit that they overdosed the water by 20 times in a ‘slight accident’ – so again human error can do huge damage.

There are tablets available to people who want fluoride so it should not be pushed onto the masses as a mass medication – it just makes a mockery of freedom of choice.

There was a big debate in Southampton (UK) recently during a consultation on whether fluoride should be added to the water or not.  After a number of months and thousands of protest signatures in the end it was added after all, mostly because those public consultations are shams anyway, but there were a great number of people - doctors and dentists among them - who were very much opposed to the idea.

The fact is: if my water has fluoride added to it, then I am being medicated whether I like it or not.  This is mass medication and I get no choice whether I want it or not.  It will benefit some - the teeth of kids, etc. - and it will harm some - older people and pregnant women, I have heard.

Now I'm not a doctor, and I personally have no big issue with it because in my area the water isn't fluoridated, but if you ask me then I want to be able to CHOOSE whether I want to medicate with fluoride and not have that choice be made FOR me by an almighty State.  It's not about the fluoride so much as it is about the principle.  I mean, what's next: mass sterilisation of the lower classes? (just exaggerating ever so slightly)

Here's a good resource on the fluoride topic: http://www.second-opinions.co.uk/fluoride_index.html

Hi Bert,

I am not a medical professional so I have to hear all the arguments from all sides and hope the truth finds its way to me. Over the years, I have become more and more skeptical about the effects of water fluoridation on humans. The closest I come to the dental profession is having a toothbrush and a sister married to a dentist for over 40 years.
