I have mixed feelings on this. I for one do tend to get heartburn if I lay down too soon after eating.
OTOH, pretty much every animal I know of, goes to sleep after it eats! In the case of snakes, for several days or a week. Lions too.
Delayed gastric emptying is not an especially bad thing. It means the food is digested more thoroughly. This cuts down on the amount of allergic reactions, dysbiosis, food poisoning, and a mess of other problems. One of the advantages of taking vinegar with meals (or some weight loss drugs) with meals, is that if the food is digested for longer, you get hungry less often.
My compromise is: I do often take a nap after eating, but I use pillows or whatever to sleep on a sort of incline. I expect with people who don't have a compromised stomach sphincter, laying down to sleep isn't an issue in any case. Certainly it isn't for snakes or lions.

I've settled into a routine of eating first meal at ten to noonish with a second smaller meal around five.
