There is (was?) a professional football player who played for the Jets and was pretty public about his epilepsy. I cant remember his name right now. Apparently this was Patterson's first seizure, and is apparently caused by AVM. Here is a bit of an article I found.
"ESPN's Sal Poalantonio reported on Thursday how Patterson was diagnosed with a brain arteriovenous malformation–which is a tangle of blood vessels in the skull. Poalantonio was informed by Patterson's trainer, Rick Burkholder, and the former first-round pick will either need surgery or radiation treatment to fix the condition."
