When people get down to that last 5 lbs ... I think you run into disagreements with your body about what really is the "right" weight for your body. Your brain has a very sophisticated system built in,and it has it's own ideas of what it thinks you should have in regards to body fat. People who are movie stars or doing body sculpting can do a lot of careful tweaking.
But the thing is: somewhere you or someone decided that you need a certain weight. Now, that weight is decided on what, exactly? If you are in good shape, your muscle is more compact, and it's going to weigh more: that is a good thing! Or maybe the extra 5 lbs is just water ... because for some reason your body things you need more stored water, or more glycogen in your liver in case you need to run a long way. Is that a bad thing? How about if it's an extra 5 lbs of fat ... maybe your body decides you need that fat to cushion your organs? Or maybe you are building more bone mass, and that bone is heavy!
So before you work really hard at getting rid of that last 5 lbs ... figure out what the "5 lbs" is made of, and why you want to get rid of it. You don't want to work really hard to lose 5 lbs of something you need.
My daughter, BTW, is very athletic. Her weight is rather high though. I suspect she is a solid mass of muscle. However, no matter how athletic she is, she never did lose some of the "curves" that make her looking female. I think she'd like to "weight less" but if she does, she's just going to look scrawny rather than awesome. I think it makes a lot more sense to work on making your body work better, and don't worry about the scale.

Hello, I am new here :). I am about 5 pounds away from goal and do count calories most of the time in my window. I have been doing this for a week and notice inches gone but I am sure it is related to water fluid release (because it was cycle related). Scale hasn't budged. I enjoy the fasting but I have no idea how many calories to consume to lose weight as it seems I maintain weight fairly easily but i don't seem to lose pounds even with very low calories days. I am 5'5" and 130 now but would like to lose 5-10 pounds more. 130 seems to be a set point for me. I am medium build and have a bit of muscle from my days of marathon training which I have stopped (just run or walk a couple miles 5x a week now).
Will it just take a long time because I am close? I am wondering if I should stop calorie counting? Or should I be more strict with my diet? Just wait it out?
