Re: [epilepsy] Re: Mother of two

Rebecca,

I know this would be hard, but I would simply introduce yourself to your
neighbors. Knock on the door, say "Hi I am your new neighbor, thought I
would introduce myself". You will end up finding one of them that you
click with. After a week or so I would ask them over, and just tell
them your story, ask them for their help. A lot of people might be
shocked, but there will likely be someone who would be willing to help.

Mys tory is long, but this is essentially what I had to do. We moved
even before i was diagnosed, though we knew i was sick. I had to tell
my story to some neighbors so they would know that I had "spells" (at
the time we had been told they were not seizures but related to another
condition had surgery for). I wanted them to know so that if I was out
in public, they would watch for my then 5 year old who might be with
me. I live in a small town, only about 4000 people, it didn't take long
for a lot of people to know. By the time I was diagnosed I was having
10-12 complex partials a day, and was glad all my neighbors knew because
I felt safer.

I have thought about when I start getting the petit mals to go ahead and call a home nurse or something just in case. I have no family in the area so that is not an option for me. The only problem with that is the cost. They would have to be on call all the time and that will cost a fortune.
