Re: [epilepsy] Causes

Hi Hanan
This is the way I feel too. Once we know what is the root cause of the seizure and there has to be one just
not all times do we know, we can then work on that and then be able to take control of our epilepsy and not
have it control us. Drs. read and learn from what they are taught and with each of our brains being so
different they have very little idea how to help us control our seizures. Our meds and surgeries are just
there to help us live our lives a bit better.

Hi Michele,
I absolutely agree with you that there must be a reason for epilepsy, and I believe we know the reason it will
be easier to control, Doctors do know what is in the book only and they will not accept opinions or
observations although observation is one of the great ways that lead to knowledge. Thank God we can have
access to information and help ourselves,
Hanan

Hi,

Is there a reason why neurologists don't seem to look any further than the MRI for causes of epilepsy?

Is it possible that the epilepsy, especially when it begins at age 10 on a perfectly normal child, could be
caused by a nutritional imbalance, allergy, hormone imbalance, or heavy metals?

Have any of you had neurologists who suggested any of those things? Or do the neurologists simply not look
into any of those things because all that they really deal with is the brain.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

-Michele
