My name is Debbie from Texas, When I see somebody who has troubl with the schools like I did, well fight, fight , fight comes to my mind! My daughters highschool didnt like to see me come and argue for my daughter at all! I finally took somebody with me who know what she was doing, we got all of my daughters minutes from the meetings from before in a big binder and I took it everytime with me to my daughter ARD meeting. And when she couldnt go, I took another friend with me. Because they didnt like to see to of us. In the end, when she finally graduated, I felt like I didnt do enough, because she still cant read or write, that well and she is 21 now. I just felt like she fell through the cracks. But now that she is 21 one, she could get help for her learning disability, but she doesnt want to do so. So it is up to her now to further her education. I have the same disability, but I chose to further my education, but only to show them that I could do what
they told me I couldnt' do. So I still felt like I didnt do much to help myself! Now, I do have seizures, but I volenteer at this Disability connections place in my neighborhood. So you might look into something like that or a teacher that would help you. A teacher did help my daughter, but it was when she was already a senior, and when she saw somebody who didnt like what they were doing, she would let you know about it all.

Great! Now that I've done at least one good deed today I am entitled to go
ream the IEP Team at my daughter's school. It's a continuance from an IEP 10
days ago because they pretty much did not fill anything in. They know my
child is now moving to another school so there was no info in her
baselines.. just what she could not do etc. Her SCD teacher's personal
report was a whopping ten word sentence on Gianna's needs and abilities, The
goals were less than previous IEP and they now admit to "accidentally"
forgetting to include her OT! There is no substitute for learning the IEP
ropes for parents!
After endangering her life this past Sept by not honoring our signed Medical
health plan for Diastat when it was needed, too many other nightmares to
mention once this meeting is over they will never see me my child again and
I am going to give them a very stern piece of mind and what I think of them
not to mention letting them know
That what goes around comes around!
