Well I don't know what u take but, when I was on dilantin they did reagular tests but, now I've been on lamictal for the last yr and now it has been almost a yr since my last 1. I gradually took myself off dilantin explainin to my doc that i was tired of the effects to my teeth. I'd never had cavities till about 2 yrs after starting on dilantin. Anyways I found that with lamictal that i have missed a few doses and i havent had ne either. With dilantin if I fell 2 days within my Medication limit I would usually have a seizure within 20 hours or so. Hope this helps.

Hi,
I take Dilantin and I had my Dilantin levels checked every few months when I first started to take it. I haven't had the levels checked in about a year now. I was told that there is a therapeutic level that is between 10-20. Too high of a level is dangerous and too low of a level may not prevent seizures. They may need to check liver enzymes and other functions also, as some meds can cause problems and/or interfere with other meds. Take care.

What exactly does medicine levels mean? If a dose works then why bother changing because of what a blood test says the medicine levels are?
I had a blood test last week and today came home to find a message from my doctor's office saying to call them. The dose I take now is fine. Is there a reason to change it if the blood test says I have too much or little in my system?
