That's what I asked her and she said that is a common misconception.
Most of its usefulness actually comes from the electirical signal that
it sends to the vagus nerve every so many minutes based on how it is set
for you. The magnet is useful if you do have auras, or if it is swiped
during a seizure, but that is not the VNS's primary usefulness in
stopping seizures.
