I had my appointment with my epileptologist today, just shortly 2 years
post op right temporal lobectomy. Today we discussed the fact that my
seizures are once again progressing despite being on 3 meds. 4 options
came up:
-stay on meds do nothing else. not a good option as I will likely get
worse and I don't want to sit down and admit defeat.
-increase meds continualy. Poor option as my side effects are already
hardly bareable and meds are obviously not cutting it.
-VNS
-A second surgery
We have decided in order to really make the best decision we need we
need to even know if I would be a surgical candidate. If I put in the
VNS and it doesn't work well, it will make it more difficult to have a
second surgery (though not impossible) and I will wonder if I should
have done that instead. I need to know first if it's even a viable
option. So that is what we do next--the VEG and we will go from there.
So next up for me is either surgery number 2 or the VNS.
