Re: [epilepsy] whats the best medicine

There seems to be a lot of similarity with dilantin and Tegretal.  I was on Dilantin for almost 30 years.  I was taking the maximum dosage and blood test levels exceeded the recommended amounts.  I had pretty good control however in the later stages, I continued to have small partial SZ.  My doctor switched me to Tgretal and I've been on it for about 5 years.  I still have about one per month and it is mild.  My dosage is well with the blood level range.  I would love to eliminate and goes years between SZs.  has anyone had similar experience with these two meds?   I have seen a lot of dialog showing similar dosages or switches to the two.

I've been on Tegratol, Depakote, currently on 3000mg of Keppra and told if this don't help my neuro is switching to something else. Other than the three I named I know I've been on more but can't remember their names. I know I haven't been on Phenobarbital, and Dilantin. Alot of people are shocked that I've never been on those. But I want some opinions on what has the least side effects since I have 4 kids to take care of. Any advice would be nice. Jamie Brown
