> Hi Melissa,
>
> Its great that you have joined the group (smile)! You are among so many friends who can relate to you here! Melissa, I had a LTL coming on 2 1/2 years ago, been seizure free since then. You can see my surgery pictures under photo's in the group here. I'm staying on my meds 100% my choice. Remember that 1 out of 4 people with epilepsy can't get their seizures under control with the help of meds. I've had epilepsy for 32 1/2 years now. Almost all that time my seizures couldn't stay under control. And like I said, I've been seizure free coming on 2 1/2 years now (big smile)! Melissa, you are among friends here, believe me! Say and ask us anything, so many of us can relate to each other besides just seizures! Also, in so many ways we can use your support here also! Again, welcome to the group Melissa! Take care, keep a smile on your face!

Hello,
I have had Epilepsy since I was seventeen and have suffered so much. I tried almost all of the meds out there and nothing was working for me. I was at my wits end. I have a small child which I am very lucky to have given my situation. I couldn't do anything with her because I felt awful all the time. My Dr. suggested surgery which scared me. It took me a long time to be able to go forward with it if I wanted to have a happy somewhat normal life. My Epilepsy clearly showed up on MRI and slowing in Right Temporal Lobe on EEG. After extreme testing I decided to go through with it still very scared. I went through with the Partial Temporal Lobectomy on the right side in January of this year. I am still on medecine but so far I have not had any seizures or auras. I have never gone this long without either. I know I am not in the clear yet but so far I am feeling pretty good about it. My surgeon told me that the area where my Epilepsy was was so scarred that it was hard as a rock so they did not have any doubt that they removed the right piece. I actually am feeling pretty well It was a rough recovery for me but so far was totally worth it. When I went for my follow up with my Neurologist she told me that she did not need to see me for 6 months unless something came up. I thought that it was amazing I have never gone that long without going to the Dr.s. I know it has only been a couple of months but I am totally happy that I went through with it. and as long as you have the support from your family and friends to help you through the tough times YOU CAN DO IT. Just remember to remain POSITIVE through this. It will really help you. It really helps to have positive supportive people around you. I am really blessed to have an amazing husband daughter family and friends. They really helped me through the tough times. Remember if you remain positive and you can do anything. Take care and best wishes!!!
