I did Fast-5 for several years. I lost about 50 lbs in the first year or so (got down to 185) and put back on about 10 before being stable for a couple of years. When I started cheating and then quit Fast-5 altogether, it took a couple of years for my weight to creep back up to 230 lbs.
In Jan 2015 I started back and I'm at 205 now with a goal to get back below 200 and stay there.
Generally, I eat what I want in my 5 hour window (3-8 PM) starting with a small lunch and then dinner around 6:00 or so. My best weight loss has been when I minimize carbs and especially when the very first thing I eat is either protein or fat (cheese).
Any sweets make me crave more carbs of any kind. That never works out well since those cravings last a couple of days.
After I started Fast-5 the first time, I gradually changed what I wanted to eat. My body wanted protein and that's when the pounds and inches started dropping off.
Most of the current discussions are on the Facebook group. But the email archives here contain a wealth of knowledge. Everyone is different, so don't worry if some of that advice doesn't suit you or work out well for you. Most people have said this, but it's often overlooked. Find what works for you. It seems to me that only really important part is to not eat outside a 5 hour window. Everything else is details that will be unique to you.
