I take Clonazepam but only 0.5mg at night. I also use it as rescue medication in the hope of halting or limiting clusters of seizures where I take at least 1mg in addition to the regular dose, just for probably a day or two. All these types of drugs (Benzodiazepines) can be addictive. I think it depends on if you have the propensity to get addicted and more probably how often you need to take it. If irregularly to get over a hump then I personally thing OK. The dose in mg of one type of Benzodiazepines does not compare to another type, like Lorazepam (Ativan). If you want to frighten yourself, here's an article on Benzodiazepines at http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/index.htm .
In that article there's a table showing dose equivalents of the various versions.

Subject: [epilepsy] Ativan question
Do any of you take it? What have you been told?
Is it fast-acting? Or addictive?
I had one doctor I saw say it isn't addictive, only fast acting. My current one's MA called today and said it is both.
I don't find it addictive and have been taking it a couple times a week for a long time. I have never craved more. It does help when I am feeling 'trippy' or too shaky to do anything.
