Urge Your Senators to Ratify the Disability Treaty | Take Action! | | | 147 countries have ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), but the United States is not one of them. The treaty has the support of more than 800 disability organizations, numerous veterans groups, and a bipartisan group of Senators, but it will need the support of individuals across the nation to be ratified in 2014. The CRPD is consistent with U.S. laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and embodies principles of equality, non-discrimination, full inclusion in society, accessibility, and respect for an individual’s dignity. Ratification of the CRPD is important to all people with disabilities, including those living with epilepsy, as it aims to ensure that countries across the globe provide people with disabilities the same rights as everyone else in order to live full, satisfying and productive lives. We need your help to get the CRPD reintroduced and ratified in 2014! The treaty fell just five votes short of ratification in December 2012, but we are confident that we can get the treaty ratified this year. Please fill out the form below or click Take Action to let your Senators know what the CRPD means to you and to the millions of Americans living with disabilities and urge them to support ratification. | | |
