Minneapolis, you wanted some Prince performances? Well, they're here! The Purple One is taking over the Dakota Jazz Club Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for six of open rehearsal shows before his next tour. Maybe he was tired of 3rd Eye Girl and Stories About Prince hogging all the attention lately.

According to Dr. Funkenberry, these rehearsals can't happen at Paisley Park because the band Fun. -- y'know, "We Are Young" -- is renting the space. Each night has a slightly different performance aspect, and all of 'em are fixing to be pack the Dakota to the gills.

You may recall that it was rumored last fall that Prince was going to do something big in downtown St. Paul. That particular caper folded, and he ended up revamping his hairstyle into an afro, and doing some Welcome 2 Chicago shows at the United Center instead.

The Wednesday, January 16 shows (8 p.m. and 11 p.m.) are titled "Soundcheck." Tickets cost $70.

Thursday, January 17's shows (8 p.m. and 11 p.m.) are called "Jam." Tickets cost $100-$150.

The Friday, January 18 performances (8 p.m. and 11 p.m.) are labeled "Surprise." Tickets are $200-$250.

From the Dakota: "The kitchen will be closed all night and there will be no food available for purchase. Cameras and cell phones will not be allowed inside." Also, Friday's show will be standing room on the club's floor.

Tickets go on sale at 5:47 p.m. this afternoon 11 a.m. THIS MORNING here.
