First of all I changed the name of the subject becuz it should be changed, no longer talking about Sisterfate76. Secondly, I can understand where Mia and Gina are coming from as well. I think from what Mia was talking about it has to do with maturing I think. As you get older things change. And as for me yes I'm still a hardcore fan becuz I will support anything that he puts out if I'm able to and if he comes to my city or nearby, I'm gonna make sure that I'm there! I listen to Prince almost everyday, but I love all types of music and I get into my different moods where I just want to hear something different. Right now I'm in my Gospel mood listening to Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary and others. You have to put it down sometime to appreciate the music more. Me and my sister is having different tastes of Prince's music right now. She is reallying digging Lotusflow3r and I probably listened to it twice since I've had. My favorite is MPLSound, more my style of Prince music and she also loves Planet Earth. I listened to it one time and that's when I purchased it. It just wasn't the Prince music that I liked such as on 3121 and Musicology. I feel ya on that room dedication, if I was single or had a husband who actually liked Prince I would definitely have a room filled with Prince items and I have the perfect room in my house now. LOL. Like I said when you get older you tend not to like the things that you use to like in your teens and 20's, I say that becuz I'm in my 30's. And its been 25 years that's I've been on this ride and don't plan on getting off, its just some things have changed along the way. I definitely don't agree with alot of things Prince does or what have you, it don't make me not want to listen to his music, because that is what its all about anyways!!! My little two cents.
Peace & B Wild!! Prince 4 Ever

I've been a fan since I was 7 thanks to my aunts and uncles, who when I was staying with them over the summer. They were obsessed with him. Funnily enough, they don't like him too much anymore. Anyway, I totally understand where Ange and others are coming from. Though I still run out and buy every P release, I'm not as enthusiastic about listening to his music or seeing him live. I think he has finally alienated many of his most devoted fans (and yes, I will refer to us as FANS). His actions over the years has made it nearly impossible to defend him anymore. I couldn't get pass three songs on Lotus Flower. The music wasn't bad; it just wasn't inspiring. It wasn't mysterious. P has lost his mystique for me and it saddens me somewhat. I'm really into jazz and Broken Beats now. I've always loved jazz but other music as well. Can't stand today's pop/rock/r&b scene. Beyonce grates my nerves. I don't get into much of that. Anyway, I suppose that I will always be loyal, but I no longer feel compelled to be as impressed or interested.

Nat I've been struggling with trying to define what I feel about Prince and this so captured it like you were reading my heart. I've been a Prince fan since 1979 and I have people who will ask me about Prince before they even ask how I'm doing. They know that I used to live and breathe Prince's music. I realized that I was riding the fence on my marriage to him when I didn't immediately sign up to join Lotus. When his new music didn't immediately make it to my MP3. Yes, I've enjoyed seeing him recently on TV and I still get all excited and giddy when I watch him play. If he announced he was coming to DC tomorrow, I'd move mountains to get there. But his music isn't 90% of what I play anymore. It's not even in the 5% category. I guess I've grown up and away from this thing I've had with him. Now, I'm not the type of fan who loved everything he put out. I would often say when something sucked like suing the fans and when his actions have caused me to take a pause and wonder what the hell. Then I would think about how his music captured my emotions and spoke to what was happening in my life, how happy his music has made me. So I stayed with him. His music was so important to my life that I dedicated a room in my house to him. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've traveled to Mpls and other places to just hang out with him and hope that he would play one of my favorites. I will admit I didn't get emotionally involved with Prince like some who are so affected by every thing he does. I wasn't so into him that his actions caused me to get so upset that I wouldn't listen to his music. I've always known my place in this relationship. His actions about his music, the ownership, who he promoted or not was his to make and I just hung in there in hopes that he would just keep playing, but I would never leave. I stayed true to him during his growing pains, his desire to promote artists I didn't really like, during what he called his "slavery," his policing the internt, when he would let singers like Rosie leave the band because he promised to help her release her cd, but then turn around and put out a Carmen Electra cd. I stayed. I could go on and on listing things over the years, but I'm sure you get the point. Now, lately, I've been creeping on the Hush with Jahiem and Eric Benet has really made me enjoy my Chocolate Legs. I've even crossed over to Ms. Chrisette Michelle, Keyshia Cole and others. Don't misunderstand me, I have a vast collection of music by other artists they were just in the 5% listening category because Prince ruled my cd player. A friend of mine recently informed me that over the last yr my Prince room has less Prince in it and that it's down to one photo. When I started to sell my collection last yr, I knew in my heart that I was walking away from my relationship with him. Maybe this is the point where I'll always call him home, but I'll just continue to creep with others. Ange PS, he's not going to promote Bria. Just look back on all the others and you will see a pattern, that's not quite his thing. She needs to leave and get a manager and let that person help her. He's done all he's going to do. --- In LoveSexyDC@yahoogro ups.com, "sisterfate76" <sisterfate76@ ...> wrote: > > That's where my negativity comes from, I suppose. After being a fan since I was 8yrs old, I guess it is like an old marriage. Don't have the strength to leave, don't really have anyone comparable to cheat with (Michael Jackson - I don'tthink so), and yet I'm strangely comfortable in this miserable existence, although I hate the way it makes me keep coming back for more. Must be the music!
