CBI -
There is a lot of information available on the topic of food and brain health. Many doctors are studying this and have been for a long time. I have been learning about this for many years, and also have a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, where some people improve with diet changes. I also learned a lot about diet for brain recovery by studying what docotrs and parents are doing in the autism community.
What I have done is read as much as I could, and then observed how I felt with various foods that might be benefical, neutral or harmful for my brain. One important thing was to identify food allergies for me. I also try to rotate the foods that I can eat, so I don't develope problems with them.
I have to eat a low glycemic diet also, or the sugars and carbs trigger more seizures for me.
When I research an herb, I look to see what the plant contains in the way of chemicals and amino acids, so that I can determine if it will help or aggravate my condition, along with looking at any research and history of its use.
I also have a diagnosis of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, and am on a protocol to deal with free radicals. My doctor put me on this, and also prescribed l-glutathione and vitamin B-12.
Love,
jnanda

> It's an interesting dialog in the past few days from those who use herbs. I know nothing about them nor what kind would apply. The real question I would like to ask is are there any foods that are good to eat that help our brains balance the chemicals in them with electrical activity? I've asked my doctor and he usually tells me there is no relationship to the food we eat and seizure control but I can't believe that, there has to be.

> Does anyone have ideas if certain vegetables or other food products help strengthen our minds and work to help reduce the activity that initiates sz's? Or looking at it from a different perspective, are there any foods that we should avoid eating that are counterproductive to the medications we take or starve our brains of the nutrients it needs?
