Here are a few of my thoughts on transportation. We live in a small town that has a senior taxi service. If you talk to them ahead of requesting a ride to let them know that you have epilepsy, even if you are not on SSDI, you can usually use this service. They usually charge for the ride, but many such services are subsidized by either donations or the community, so it isn't too expensive. Many cities have bike racks on their buses, so you can combine biking and busing on the same trip. In addition to Uber, there is another service called Lyft. My daughter has used both. They are a taxi service of sorts, where drivers use their own cars to transport you. It is generally cheaper than a traditional taxi service, although their fees can slide on the basis of demand. In other words, don't look for a bargain price during rush hour or New Year's Eve.
