Veggies are a good place to start. It does need to be non starchy. If it is easier use frozen. Artichokes, avocado, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, greens such as kale, spinach, collards, turnip greens, swiss chard, mustard greens, etc. Lettuce should be a darker green (these have better nutrition). Also, Celery, cabbage, brussels sprouts, squash such as zucchini, yellow squash and spaghetti squash. Bell peppers.
Fruit such as raspberries, blackberries.
Nuts such as almonds.
Beans of all sorts... including black beans, lentils. Eat hummus with things like veggie sticks of celery, squash, etc instead of crackers.
If you eat bread/cracker... make sure it is a true whole grain.
Brown rice also instead of white rice.
A good soup with a low fat meat such as chicken or lean beef with a select group of veggies can be made and frozen in portions. IF you use ready made soups such as canned add things on your own such as spices or veggies.
I do hope this helps!
