Re: [epilepsy] Re: Different generic

Yes, I've heard that different brands of anti seizure meds can make a difference. I was afraid to switch from the brand named drug Keppra when the generic became available. At that time I had health insurance. I continued to pay the extra copayment. After a short time I read that one of the generic brands of Keppra was taken off the market because people who had their seizures controlled by brand name Keppra, we're now having seizures. When I lost my insurance, I was afraid to switch to generic, but had to because of the cost. I felt more tired for awhile.

Even though the active ingredients are supposed to be the same, the inactive ingredients vary and can be absorbed differently. I would contact your doctor for his/her advice.

I just got a different generic for Trileptal and have been experiencing dizziness and lightheadedness that I didn't have before. Wondering if it is from the drug or something else. I am keeping notes on this to see what changes might be going on.
