Well, I toughed it out yesterday and the sensation of starving finally ended in the middle of the afternoon. I made it to my 5pm window, yeah!
I started out today a little apprehensive, thinking of how the book mentions the "3rd, 4th, or 5th days" as the most difficult. I wasn't lookng forward to the 4th being even tougher than yesterday, that's for sure.
Well, today...no problems. I haven't had a twinge of "real" hunger, actually. My tummy has mildly "growled" a time or two but my blood sugar feels stable and I don't have any real desire to eat except out of habit.
What a relief! Now if I can get through tomorrow, the dreaded "5th day", I feel like I may really be able to stick with this plan longterm. Except for yesterday it's actually been easier than sticking to Weight Watchers as I tried to do for years. I was almost ALWAYS hungry on that program.
One question for you veterans, though....I know the book says you shouldn't just eat and eat during your window, but, I believe, to only eat to knock down somatic hunger. Well, I know it's a little early to worry about this, but I'm not having a problem of wanting to eat everything in sight, I'm actually having a problem of really not wanting to eat much at all. Yesterday, I broke my fast with a protein shake (300 calories). I really wasn't hungry after that, but two hours later I thought I should eat dinner, so I had a sandwich and a few veggies (maybe a total of 500 calories?)After that I felt more or less "full". But I've always heard you shouldn't go below like 1200 calories so I ate a snack I really didn't want to bring me up to that level. Should I worry about that 1200 calorie "rule" on this plan? I've never been entirely convinced there is such as thing as the so-called "starvation mode" you supposedly go into under that level but it's been so drummed into my head I'm afraid to break the rule.
