Hi Doris,
When I had my brain surgery in October 2001, I didn't start noticing that I had memory loss until I was about 6 months into my recovery period. It has been a little over 11 years now and I have most of my memory back. I had some help from one of my best friends writing me a letter of all the things he remembered since we met about 20 years ago. Things I was doing then, how we met, things like that. Looking back at some old picture albums helped as well. Now and then I'll get a flash back of something from the past, just from watching something on tv or from something I read about. I feel much better now then I did in 2001 by a long shot.

If others who also had brain surgery noticed difficulty with memory, please share how this changed with time or things you might have done that helped with it. I'm sure I have asked this before, but changes or suggestions would be meaningful. It is super hard even discussing this with others we know, like our family or friends, because I do not feel that they can actually understand what we are feeling. Thoughts about how this type of effect changes with time are most scary to me. Your time to read this and any direction to information is appreciated. Thanks.
Doris
