My epileptologist is of the opinion that once you find a set of meds
that gives you a good balance of control to side effects, you stay on
that combination.
What meds you take and stay on is always a game of teeter totter. On
one end is control, the other side effects. The idea is to get control
on some level, while your side effects are manageable. For example, if
you have total seizure control but your side effects are such that you
can't live, that's not a good balance. If the combination you are on is
effective with a manageable level of side effects I would push your Dr.
about WHY he thinks you should change.
