1) Are there any incentives for physicians to prescribe Vimpat?
2) Has anyone here had success with Vimpat?
3) How common and severe are the side effects?
Thanks in advance for your help!

My son has complex partial seizures. He's been on this medication since November of 09. I have not heard of any incentives for physicians to prescribe it. There was a program to get a discount or rebate on it when he started on it. You can search the web and see what you can find. That is always a good idea whenever you start any new medication without a generic. I found a bunch of rebates from my mother-in-law a while back doing that. My son is using it along with Trileptal. It did help but he is a complicated case and we never got full control. He has not had any side effects. The Trileptal give him double vision and he has to watch when he takes it to make sure that he has food in his stomach. But the Vimpat has been fine. You could ask for samples or see if you can get a script for just a few days or a week. That would be cheaper and let you see if you experience any side effects.
