I'm int he process of voc rehab right now, and returning to school is
part of the plan. This is what you will want to do.
First, get all the documentation about your disability together,
including diagnosis and how they effect your ability to learn. This
might include memory, attention, concentration and so on. You don't
necessarily need a doctor to recommend certain accommodations, but you
will need documentation fo the issues.
Second, set up an appointment with the accessibility services/disability
services dept. at the school. You will likely be assigned an
accommodations counselor, who you would meet with at least once per
semester. They will use the documentation to set up your accommodations.
Lastly, don't jump all in head first. My nueropsych told me to spend
time every week on campus, at the library or similar setting to get
acquainted again with the atmosphere. Start with a few minutes, maybe
5, then work your way up each week so you are use to the atmosphere
again. He also told me to start with only one class the first
semester. If a doctor will request this specific accommodation then you
may still be considered full time.
Do not worry about what specific accommodations you need/want. the
counselor will do that, they know what they are doing because this is
what they specialize in.
