Re: [epilepsy] Re: Anxiety attacks

II know when I am going to have a seizure most of the time. It is hard to explain the funny taste I get in my mouth or the weird way I feel, but as long as its there, I usually have seizures. My friend that has the panic attacks has them when she gets upset and aggravated over things. They only seem to last a few minutes when she has them. Her lungs are in bad shape and she has COPD too. The doctors told her it was where so many people smoked around her when she was a child. My seizures last anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. It usually depends on how much I tend to worry or get stressed out about something.

Hi robert,

I have complex partials, and mine have changed over the years.  Now I'm spacing out and garbling words for a few seconds.

I've only had one panic attack--not sure why.  I had a hard time breathing, so thought it was my asthma--I used my 2 inhalers constantly, but they didn't work.  I tried breathing in and out slowly and concentrating, like when you do yoga, but nothing was working.  My friend gave me a Lorazepam when I got to work in the next day, and in seconds it ended.

I have no idea what set it off, but it happens.  That was last year, and I've had epilepsy for 20 years.

Tammy,

This is what was weird about what I described. Normally I have no idea I'm having (or about to have) a CP seizure. But I knew all this was happening. I have CP seizures that are continuous over several hours, and some that start and stop over several hours (often days). Other times it's a single event. So variable, but tend to cluster stongly.

I have complex partial seizures, but I have a friend who has panic attacks. She gets to where she can't talk and barely can breath. I had to get her something to drink one day when we were out shopping. We both seem to have them when we are stressed out. She knows what she is doing when she has them. I know when I am going to have a seizure, but I don't know what happens after it starts. After she gets her breathing back under control she is okay. I don't know if this will help you much or not, but it is about all I know about them.
