[epilepsy] Surgery, reducing meds.

Hi everybody,

I would like to hear your experiences in reducing meds after surgery. And your thoughts about what I'm thinking about. I've had epilepsy the past 36 years, seizure most those years not under control till a LTL 5 years one month ago. I've been seizure free since. I didn't want to reduce my meds after and haven't since surgery. All my choice, would rather have the meds. For a 2nd protection against a seizure.

And now for the 1st time just thinking of reducing my meds just a touch, and I mean just a touch! I just emailed my epileptologist on his thoughts. I'm bouncing both ways for doing this. But for the first time thinking of going for it. I'm on both Keppra and Trileptal. The epileptologist who took care of deciding I'm a candidate for the LTL said he would suggest getting off my 3000mg per day of Keppra in one year. Reducing 750mg every 3 months.

Like I said, I just email my epileptogogist today.

I would enjoy hearing responses from those of you who went for reducing meds after temporal surgery. My life has changed more than dramatically all in positive ways since surgery. So wonder if it's worth going for it? Or simply enjoy my life now and stay all on the meds. Scared reducing, but now the thoughts are beginning to leak in (smile) for the first time since surgery! Take care, keep a smile on your face!
